Jennifer's July Jargon

New York — Tis the season of oodles of graduate shows, where we scope out the freshest new talent entering the industry. We also hopped on a plane to explore 3daysofdesign, and opened up new horizons at Co-Creation: Biophilia, Biomimicry, Design for Life. We were impressed with our visit the Future Fabrics Expo, which surprisingly showcased a lot more than textiles. Exciting times all around.

New York — Some of the most tantalizing designs to find in NYC are found within the wallcoverings on display. Relevant to the times and spanning a spectrum of tastes, these beauties stopped us in our tracks and we could easily imagine an array of interiors proudly showing off their walls. Circular Luxury Across Tabletops

London — This research project presents an exploratory look into circular luxury tableware, examining alternative processes and materials for ceramics, glassware, silversmithing, and tablecloths. This scoping study identifies knowledge gaps and outlines four key stages for circularity: material sourcing, production, use, and post-use. Here are the directions the industry should be going.

Modern Upholstery for the Better

London — Stringent flammability tests, leading to widespread use of flame retardants in furniture, pose health and environmental risks. These "forever chemicals" contaminate water, food, and bodies, causing various health issues. Alternatives like wool, mycelium, and seaweed are being explored to replace foam.
