May 2023 / Back Mingling in Milan

Located throughout the world, the Trendease Team continues to deliver our subscribers around the globe must-know market information and inspiration straight to their computer screens.

It was fantastic to be back in Italy for the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone in their regularly scheduled slot. Design Week was smaller in scale; at Rho Fiera there were no halls with two levels and for the city events, well, some design districts went away entirely, while others grew. With fewer events that by no means meant it was less work. The Salone had 16 halls open at the exhibition center, and depending on which source you reference for Fuorisalone, there were no fewer than 350 events to explore. We averaged 20,000 steps per day over the week. This month’s edition of Trendease is exclusively dedicated to our design trekking through Milan. Get inspired with the May edition!

We attend over 100 design events a year on your behalf to bring you trend insights and design movements to help you maintain cutting-edge knowledge of the lifestyle and design markets. Currently we keep readers within 173 countries/territories in the know! Are you reading Trendease.com?

Jennifer's May Marvels

Milan — During Milan Design Week, in Zona Tortona, one could find the “Family Home” pop-up, the apartment of a contemporary family, divided between the autonomy of individuals and family coexistence, where the furnishing project respected everyone. There were 49 brands listed and each product donned a QR code that would take you to a linktr.ee to learn more or shop.

Boundaries Blend

Milan — Boundaries blend where technology merges unobtrusively into interior design. Televisions and speakers either camouflage themselves or become pieces of art. Home fragrance takes on a new layer when it is customized for the owner’s room. A climbing wall in the dining room?! Why not? Seemingly disassociated objects become one in the interior of today and tomorrow.

Cut Your Hair for Design

Milan — In the twenty years that the Trendease Team has been researching global design movements, we have seen a number of intriguing uses of human hair as a raw material to be utilized rather than burnt or sent to landfill. Now we can say that we have met the queen of circular hair material innovation. Now that’s a wrap!
